Starring at the ceiling, struggling to keep my eyes open. I can't help but wonder what actually the saying 冬大過年 'dong da guo nian' means. Is that because the people of past generations placed more importance on Winter Solstice than on New Years? or....... Without second-guessing, i jumped out of bed, got dressed, washed up, headed the kitchen.
Everything seemed to work out well in part because we've it all planned out. Took the doughs (glutinous rice flour) out from fridge, pinched off pieces of the dough and rolled it into round balls, dropped the balls into boiling water, cooked them until they floated, placed them into the clear sweet soup. Simple right (having hyperhidrosis doesn't interfere my activities today because my palms didn't sweat at all throughout the morning hours unpredictably! :D )
Eating tang yuan also a reminder that we are now one year older, should behave better in the coming year :D
Flashback of 2007's....
Cultural ignorance is shameful. As a Chinese, if you see or hear or smell or sense another Chinese pronouncing "Who is dong zhi" or "Where is dong zhi", just give him a slap without mercy.
Happy Dong Zhi :D
